Murgon State Primary School delivers the Australian Curriculum, which is designed to teach students what it takes to become confident and creative individuals, successful lifelong learners and active and informed citizens.
We tailor our teaching and learning to local context, with connections beyond the South Burnett.
The Australian Curriculum External link sets the goal for what all students should learn as they progress through their school life – wherever they live in Australia and whatever school they attend.
From the first year of schooling to Year 6, students develop knowledge and skills in eight learning areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education (HPE), Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), The Arts, Technologies and Languages (Wakka Wakka language and culture).
An overview of the Australian Curriculum in Foundation External link, Years 1-2 External link, Years 3-4 External link and Years 5-6 External link provides general information for parents about the learning students complete in specific year levels at Murgon State Primary School.
In addition to engaging classroom-based learning activities, many aspects of our curriculum are delivered by specialist teachers, including:
- Physical Education
- Languages Other than English (LOTE) – Wakka Wakka
Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of local excursions that are designed to enrich and broaden their learning and understanding. Students at Murgon State Primary School get to explore their local community in an effort to develop, foster and maintain strong community partnerships.
Murgon State Primary School embraces new programs and initiatives to help provide better resources and outcomes for our students.
All families are provided with Curriculum Letters at the beginning of each Term. These letters set out the learning and assessment for the coming Term.
